Lesson 6 - Prophet Ibraheem/Ibrahim AS إبراهيم

Lineage: Ibraheem AS is the son of Aazar, son of Nahoor whose lineage traces back to Sam, the eldest son of Nuh AS.

Ibraheem AS is mentioned 69 times in 64 verses, in 25 chapters. He is the second most mentioned prophet in the Quran. He has a Surah named after him - Surah Number 14 - Surah Ibraheem.

Evidences that Ibraheem AS is a Prophet

From Qur’an:

  • Surah 19:41 - “Mention too, in the Quran, the story of Abraham. He was a man of truth, a prophet.” The Arabic word used in this verse is nabi which means prophet. This is clear evidence that Ibraheem was a prophet.
  • Surah 57:26 - “We sent Noah and Abraham, and gave prophethood and scripture to their offspring: among them there were some who were rightly guided, but many were lawbreakers.” It’s said that Ibraheem is Khalil of Allah - meaning close friend of Allah. Allah favoured him so much that many prophets came from his offsprings. In order for a prophet to come from a person's offsprings, that person must have been a prophet as well.
  • Surah 2:136 - “So [you believers], say, ‘We believe in God and in what was sent down to us and what was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and what was given to Moses, Jesus, and all the prophets by their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we devote ourselves to Him”  Based on the above verse, what was sent down to Ibrahim means revelation which indicates he was a prophet. Allah then says “all the Prophets” and so we can deduce that all the names listed above are prophets.
  • Surah 11:69 - “To Abraham, Our messengers brought good news. They said, ‘Peace.’ He answered, ‘Peace,’ and without delay he brought in a roasted calf." This verse is about the three angels who came to visit Ibraheem, who are referred to as the messengers. From our first lesson we spoke about the argument that Jibreel AS and other Angels AS always spoke, revealed themselves to a Prophet. Based on this, we can argue that he was a prophet.

From Sunnah:

  • The Great Intercession Hadith - Hadith ash safa-ah al-uzma. This hadith references the day of resurrection where we will rush to all the Prophet and ask for them to intercede for us-  Ibrahim will be one of them. He will apologise and mention his mistakes; firstly, when his father requested his presence at the festival, and he said he was ill; secondly, when he destroyed the idols and said the largest idol did it rather than himself; and lastly, when the king inquired about Sarah, he said she was his sister instead of his wife. Reference - Sahih al-Bukhari 7510 - Book 97, Hadith 135 and in Sahih Muslim 193e Book 1, Hadith 385
  • The night journey - Al’Isra wal’Miraj story. Prophet Muhammed SAW journeys to heaven and meets Ibrahim AS on the 7th heaven. Prophet Muhammed SAW met Ibraheem several times. Whilst Prophet Muhammed SAW was travelling on the winged horse, he heard salaam, Jibreel AS said this is your brother Ibraheem. Second time, when he went to the second level in jannah, the holy house like Makkah for the angels, the Prophet saw an old man standing there, this was Ibraheem. He met Ibraheem on the 7th heaven. Ibrahim even gave descriptions of jannah for the ummah of Prophet SAW, he advised them to do dhikr as it would plant trees for them in jannah. Reference - Sahih al-Bukhari 3358 and Sahih al-Bukhari 3342

Prophet (Nabi) or Messenger (Rasool)? Ijma - consensus amongst scholars, that Ibrahim AS is definitely a prophet and a messenger. He is Khalil of Allah, and furthermore one amongst the best of prophets. There is also mention that he received a scripture, about 10 pages.

Birth of Ibraheem

  • He lived in the  ancient landscape of Babylonia, near Iraq. Iraq was a rich country and under the rule of a King called Nebroot. The King spread the idea that he was a God. He used to buy everyone's harvest, store it in a warehouse and then resell it to the people, but he would only sell to people who considered him a living God. People were forced to worship him in order to buy harvest.
  • His father was called Aazar and his mother was called Emily. The King had a dream of a light fortelling him that something would come and dismantle his idols. His advisors interpreted the dream and told him a boy would come to challenge idol worship. The King decreed the execution of all newborns. Similar to the story of Musa AS.
  • Emily was pregnant and knew the dangers, so she concealed her pregnancy. As her delivery date approached, her husband took her outside the village so no one could hear her when she gave birth.
  • Ibrahim AS birth was kept a secret until the law and soldiers passed. He remained in the cave and his parents would visit to look after him. Three to four years had passed.
  • Aazar then made up a story that he had another wife who had his child and slowly introduced him to the village.
  • Ibrahim AS was quite inquisitive, often asking questions about who created him, the mountains and the animals. He used to ask a lot of clever questions which led Emily to believe that her son was the boy from the King’s dream. Ibraheem AS believed from a young age in Allah and that there is only one God.
  • Aazar used to make and sell idols to worship. Ibraheem AS questioned his father on why he sold idols.
  • At the age of ten, his father asked him to help in the family business by selling idols at the market. Ibraheem AS refused but his father made him sell them.
  • In the market, Ibraheem AS told the truth that the idols were powerless to potential buyers. He explained that he threw some idols into the river to see if they could save themselves and they didn’t. There was tension between Ibraheem AS and his father on this topic.

Becoming a Prophet

  • At around 15 years old, Ibraheem AS received revelation. He told his people to worship Allah alone, without associating any partners with Him. However, they insisted on worshipping their statutes. Ibraheem AS challenged them by questioning whether the idols could hear or see, to which they replied they were following ancestral tradition.
  • Ibrahim devised a plan to demonstrate the idols were useless. Annually, the people held a religious festival, offering abundant food to the idols in the temple. They would then take the food home and say it was blessed by the idols. Ibrahim's father invited him to attend, but Ibrahim feigned illness, opting to remain at home. Seizing a large axe from his father's tools, Ibrahim entered the temple and started talking to the idols but no one answered him. He destroyed all the smaller idols, leaving only the largest intact, with the axe draped around its neck. He then returned home.
  • In the evening the people returned to the temple and discovered the shattered idols. Ibrahim's absence at the festival raised suspicion. They suspected Ibrahim's, as he had previously questioned idol worship and advised the people against it,  and so they  summoned him to the temple for interrogation. They confronted him, demanding to know if he was responsible for the destruction of the idols.
  • He said the largest idols had destroyed the smaller ones and urged them to question the idols. The people asserted that  the idols could not speak, so he questioned why they worshipped them.
  • As punishment, they decided to put Ibraheem AS  in prison and asked everyone to gather wood to make a big fire for him. They collected wood for one month to create a mountain of wood and then set this on fire. A bird was not able to fly over the fire because they would die due to the heat or smoke.
  • In their struggle to cast him into the flames, Iblis intervened, suggesting the construction of a contraption, akin to a slingshot, to propel Ibrahim AS  into the fire from a distance.
  • The Angels got scared and went to Allah asking to help him. Allah said go to him and offer him help.
  • The Angel of Rain came to him and said I will bring rain and end this. Ibrahim said no thank you
  • The Angel of Wind came and said he would start a wind to stop the fire. He said no,
  • Jibrael AS came to him and asked “do you need any help?” He said from you, no thank you, so Gibreel said ask your Lord. He said Allah is aware of my condition
  • He said Allah is sufficient for me - dua Surah 3-173 - Those whose faith only increased when people said, ‘Fear your enemy: they have amassed a great army against you,’ and who replied, ‘God is enough for us: He is the best protector,
  • Allah commanded the fire to be cool and bestowed peace upon Ibraheem AS. Moreover, Allah sent a special Angel, the Angel of Shadow.
  • Ibraheem stayed there in the fire for a few days and the people outside witnessed him still alive. There were no signs that he was inside a fire when he returned. He continued his dawah, but unfortunately his village didn’t believe in him.
  • He was commanded by Allah to migrate to Palestine with his wife Sarah and nephew Lut.

Starts journey to Palestine

On his way to Palestine he made a few stops on the way.

First stop: Capital of Iraq.

  • Allah commanded him to go to Babylon - the capital of Iraq to give dawah to the King.
  • Whilst Ibraheem AS was in the market trying to buy food, he was met with a peculiar custom. The people queried who is your Lord, he replied Allah, but the people told him that the King is God. Ibraheem refuted this and his deinance reached the ears of the King.
  • The King invited Ibraheem to have a public debate in front of everyone.
  • Ibraheem AS challenged the King by saying that his Lord can give life and take life. The King said he could too, Ibraheem asked for proof and the King presented two prisoners; he killed one and set one free, proclaiming that he gave life to the one set free.
  • Ibraheem AS challenged the King by saying his Lord brings the sun to rise from the east, and if you are King then bring it from the west. The King was not able to do this and therefore lost the debate.
  • Ibraheem AS was still not allowed to buy food because he did not say the King is God. Miraculously, his bag had food in it - provided by Allah
  • Ibraheem AS asked Allah to show him how to give life to the dead. Allah said bring 4 birds, cut them into pieces,˺ and scatter them on different hilltops (mountains).
  • When Abraham said: "Show me, Lord, how You will raise the dead, " He replied: "Have you no faith?" He said "Yes, but just to reassure my heart." Allah said, "Take four birds, draw them to you, and cut their bodies to pieces. Scatter them over the mountain-tops, then call them back. They will come swiftly to you. Know that Allah is Mighty, Wise." Surah 2:260

Second stop: Harran

  • Ibraheem was sent to Harran, an area in modern-day Turkey to give dawah. The people there used to worship the stars and planets. They believed in seven Gods; the sun, moon, Venus, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn.
  • Ibraheem AS needed to prove to them that those planets are controlled by Allah, so he showed them that the sun rises and falls, a sign that it wasn’t an omnipotent God. The sun simply obeyed a higher power.
  • Surah 6:79 - ‘I have turned my face as a true believer towards Him who created the heavens and the earth. I am not one of the polytheists.'. If you read ibn Kathir’s tafsir here, it mentions how he debated that Venus, the sun and the moon (the three brightest objects in the sky) were not gods because they rotated on a fixed term. They had no control of their orbit to move freely left or right, therefore such objects are not worthy of being a God.

Third stop: Palestine

  • Ibraheem AS  then went to Palestine, specifically to Jerusalem and then to Hebron. He settled there and this city is now called Khalil, after him. Ibrahim AS was 10 years older than Sarah with no children.
  • Allah commanded Ibrahim to take his family and to move to Egypt - because there wasn’t food in Palestine.

Travel to Egypt

  • During this era, there was no Pharaoh, but rather a King called Senan bin Al Waan.
  • This King, though corrupt, didn’t force people to view him as a God. His corrupt practice involved inviting a beautiful woman to his palace, killing her husband, spending some time with her and then sending her back. If the King requested a woman, she had to go or he would kill her entire family.
  • Sarah was the most beautiful woman on earth of her time. The King summoned Ibaraheem AS to his palace to seek Sarah. Ibraheem AS explained that due to the drought, they resided in Egypt but had settled in Palestine. When questioned about Sarah's relation to him, Ibrahim replied that she was his sister, knowing that claiming her as his wife would lead to his death.
  • The King summoned Sarah to the palace. Upon her  arrival at the palace, Ibraheem AS prayed to Allah, who granted him insight into the events unfolding (he was able to view what was happening). Sensing the King's approach, Sarah sought refuge in a nearby bathroom, where she performed ablution (Wudu) and asked Allah for protection to not allow the King to touch her.
  • The King entered and noticed her making dua so he attempted to touch her, he fell unconscious and couldn’t move. Sarah then made dua to Allah to not kill him because then people would think that she had killed the King, so after a short time, the King regained consciousness. He woke but was very weak.
  • The King requested Sarah to make dua to Allah to cure him and he promised that he would never touch her. She did, he was cured but went back on his promise and attempted to touch her again, to which he fainted.
  • After repeated attempts to approach Sarah, each resulting in his collapse, the King vowed to release her unharmed. He ordered Sarah to pray for his recovery, promising to honour his word. Eventually, he kept his promise, granting Sarah gifts and his favourite slave girl, Hagar, before sending her back to Ibraheem AS. When she returned home, she saw Ibraheem AS was still making dua to Allah.
  • They then returned to Palestine. Ibraheem AS faced another decade of childlessness, so Sarah urged him to marry Hagar. Soon, tensions arose between Sarah and Hagar, prompting Hagar to take her belongings and leave.. She walked a long distance until she saw an angel. The angel told her to go back to her husband and home, because she was pregnant with a boy and he would be called Ismael. He told her that her son would make something special (Ka’bah) and later on his nation would even control all of Palestine.
  • After giving birth to Ismael, Allah commanded Ibraheem AS to take Hagar and her new child next to the holy house in Makkah. see  Sahih al-Bukhari 3362, 3363

Leaves Hagar

  • Ibraheem AS started to  retreat, Hagar asked him where he was going and if Allah had commanded him to do this, he nodded and she said okay. She had been left with some water and dates.
  • He then made dua to Allah. Surah 14:37 - ‘Our Lord, I have established some of my offspring in an uncultivated valley, close to Your Sacred House, Lord, so that they may keep up the prayer. Make people’s hearts turn to them, and provide them with produce, so that they may be thankful.’
  • The provisions (food and water) ran out and her baby began to cry. She found a hill and she climbed it, later known as al-Safar, she saw another hill later known as al-Marwa. She travelled between both hills seven times, a ritual now called Sa’i. Prophet Muhammed SAW commanded people to do Sa’i during pilgrimage (both Umrah and Hajj). During Sa’i there is a part where men have to run, this is the part where she ran between the mountains to check on her son, because the mountain would dip and she couldn’t see her son (women do not run at this part).
  • As she was returning to her son, she heard a voice from the vicinity where she left him. When she approached she Jibrael in human form with two wings instead of hands. She already knew who he was because she was the wife of a Prophet.
  • Jibrael then used the tip of his wing to strike the ground, causing water to gush forth. After some time, a fountain of water came out with a lot of pressure. Concerned that it would not stay, she enclosed it with rocks and said  Zam Zam means "stay stay."
  • The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) later remarked that had Hagar not fortified the spring with rocks, it would have flowed as a river rather than a well.
  • A tribe called Jurhum, migrating from Yemen in search of water, observed birds circling the area—a sign of water's presence. Upon encountering Hagar, they sought permission to settle, establishing the community in Makkah.
  • Every month Ibraheem AS used to visit his family in Makkah and Palestine - the journey between the two is one month. Allah arranged al-Buraaq - an animal from Paradise. The same animal used in the night journey in Al-isra wal-Miraj.

Ibraheem’s AS guests

  • Ibraheem AS liked hosting guests. He was hospitable and would actively seek out travellers to welcome them into his home. However, for fifteen days, he found no guests, until one day he encountered three young men. Urging them to be guests in his home.
  • Food was laid (roasted calf from Surah 11:69) but the guests did not eat. This is usually a bad custom. If a person does not eat in your house, it is a sign they are an enemy to you.
  • Ibraheem AS asked again for them to eat, but they said we do not eat, we are Angels. Three angels were sent, Jibraeel, Mikaeel and Israfeel. (In the story of Aadam AS we spoke about how angel names end with eel which indicates they belong to Allah).
  • Surah 51:28 - ‘beginning to be afraid of them, but they said, ‘Do not be afraid.’ They gave him good news of a son who would be gifted with knowledge.’
  • They came to tell him that Sarah, who was around 90 years old, would conceive a prophet called Issac and you will see your grandchild Yaqoob. Surah 11:71 - ‘His wife was standing [nearby] and laughed. We gave her good news of Isaac and, after him, of Jacob.’
  • Ibraheem AS was a clever man, he realised that three angels would not have been sent to deliver this news alone, he queried further and they explained that they had been sent to the village of Lut AS.
  • Loot AS became a prophet and was sent to a place called Sadoom and Camoora. Allah sent the Angels to punish the people there. This area no longer exists, but it was not far from the Dead Sea. Loot AS had made dua for this.
  • Ibraheem AS was upset that punishment was being sent there. The Angels said the believers would be saved and they received command from Allah to do it. They said speak to Allah if he accepts your intercession.
  • Surah 11:74 - ‘Then, when the fear left Abraham and the good news came to him, he pleaded with Us for Lot’s people,’
  • From 50 to 40 to 30 to 20 to 10. Allah made a promise that if there were 10 believers then he would not destroy the city of Loot. We will discuss the story of Loot AS in the next lesson so will stop here.

Sacrifice of Ismael

  • Ibraheem AS saw in his dream that he was sacrificing his son. Dreams are a form of wahi (revelation) for Prophets. Ibraheem AS decided to implement this dream.
  • Now there are debates on which son was sacrificed, and the Qur’an does not specifically mention the name of the son. The Christians, Jews and a group of Muslim say it was Issac (ibraheem’s AS only son in their eyes), the majority of Muslims believe it is Ismael. The Jews believe the rock in the dome of the rock (The gold dome mosque on the compound of Masjid al-Aqsa)  is where Ibraheem AS sacrificed his son Isaac, the Samaritans believe this was done in Nablus, Muslims believe this took place in Makkah.
  • The strongest opinion is that the son to be sacrificed was Ismael. From the Quran, the Angels came with glad tidings to Sarah that she would have a child and see her grandchild Yaqoob, who is the son of Isaac, so this would indicate that he had a future. However, the angel also approached Hagar and told her that her son would make something special, later we know this meant the building of the Ka’bah, and this had not commenced. Both sons had a future that we were aware of, the Angels had warned us, however, it is argued that Isaac had not been born yet. This is the opinion that I follow.
  • When Ismael was around 10-12 years, Ibraheem AS met with Hagar and told her about his dream. She was a firm believer. Some scholars argue that she was a female prophet (mentioned in the introduction to the course). She affirmed that if Allah commanded it, then it should proceed.
  • Ibraheem AS spoke with his son, who also accepted that this was the will of Allah.
  • Iblis, disguised in human form, approached Hagar and falsely claimed that Ibraheem AS  intended to kill her son. Hagar affirmed her trust in the command of Allah.
  • Iblis then approached Ismael and told him that his father was going to kill him. Ismael responded by affirming this was the command of Allah. Iblis could not believe that a mother and child would reply this way, so he decided to approach Ibraheem AS and tell him that his dream was from shaytan and not a revelation.
  • Ibraheem AS realised from his language that this was Iblis and pushed him away. Iblis tried to physically stop him, so Ibraheem AS took a stone and threw it at him. He went away and then returned so Ibarheem AS stoned him seven times in one place. This happened a few times and so Ibraheem AS stoned him 7 times again, until Iblis gave up.
  • In Makkah, when completing Hajj, you stone the three pillars known as the three shayateens. You will stone on the 10th, 11th and 12th day. On the 10th, you would only stone one pillar, on the second and third day you would stone all three. You would need a total of 49 stones. Day one (7 stones), Day two (21 stones) day 3 (21 stones).
  • Ibraheem AS attempted to sacrifice his son with a knife but it didn’t cut. He then heard a voice from either Allah or Jibraeel that said you have fulfilled your commandment. Allah then sent a Ram from Habeel to sacrifice. (The two sons of Aadam who gave a sacrifice, Habeel was a shepherd and gave the best from his flock).
  • This event, occurring on the 10th of Dul Hijah, later became commemorated as Eid al-Adha.

Ismael marries

  • Haggar passed away and was buried in Makkah. Ismael remained in his tribe and was raised there. Eventually, he decided to get married to a girl from the tribe, her name was Imarah bint Saad.
  • Ibraheem AS could not attend the wedding as he was in Palestine. Later, he decided to pay his son a visit. Upon arriving at his house, he was informed that his son was not home, so he conversed with his wife. She expressed dissatisfaction, lacked gratitude and did not offer a drink to her guest. Ibraheem AS asked her to relay a message to her husband “tell him to change his door step.”
  • When Ismael returned and heard of the encounter, he revealed that the man was his father and he had advised him to divorce her. Consequently, they parted ways, and she returned to her family.
  • Ismael then remarried to As'saidah bint Mudhadh, whose father was the tribal leader. Ibraheem AS couldn't attend this wedding again, but he later visited his new daughter-in-law. She welcomed him with refreshments and offered him food. When Ibraheem AS inquired about her husband's whereabouts, she mentioned he was out hunting for their meal, inviting Ibraheem AS to wait if he wished. Though he couldn't wait, Ibraheem AS conversed with her, and she exhibited gratitude without complaint. ibraheem AS passed on a message to her husband to keep his doorstep. When Ismael returned and learned of the encounter, he assured his wife that the visitor was her father, expressing his contentment with her.
  • Subsequently, Ibraheem AS encountered his son and informed him of Allah's command to construct a house in the area, seeking his assistance. The house would be the building of the Ka’bah. see  Sahih al-Bukhari 3365

Building the Ka’bah

  • The foundation is there but it was covered. Jibrael came and moved all the dust and showed Ibraheem AS the foundation and told him to build on this.
  • Ismaeel was strong so he would bring the stones and Ibraheem AS would position the stones. They made a wall that was two meters high, but Ibraheem AS wanted to make it higher so he asked his son to bring him a rock to stand on. With this, they were able to make the wall four meter high.
  • As Ibraheem AS stood on this rock, it softened beneath his feet, leaving his footprint. This is now placed in the Maqam al-Ibraheem, which is mentioned in the Quran Surah 2:125. During Umrah, after completing Tawarf, you’d stand behind Maqam al-Ibraheem and recite two rakat salah.
  • Following the sahabah Umairs RA advice, the rock was moved 15 meters away for the Ka’bah and encased in a small glass-domed structure she the people could view this but not touch it.
  • Allah decreed doors be installed on the eastern and western sides. At this time the roof remained open. The shape and size of the Ka’bah is exactly the same as Al-Bayt Al-Ma’moor, (in jannah where the angels do toward)
  • During construction, Ibraheem made dua which is mentioned in Surah 2:127
  • A marker stone was put to indicate where to start Tawaf, the Black Stone which came from paradise with Aadam AS, was also placed on one corner and then Ibraheem AS was commanded by Allah to perform Hajj and Umrah, inviting others to partake as well. The rites observed during Ibraheem AS era closely resemble those practiced during the time of the Prophet Muhammed SAW for Hajj and Umrah.

Ibraheem AS remarries

  • Sarah passed away at the age of 127.
  • Subsequently, Ibraheem AS married a woman called Qantora, with whom he had between five to six children: Zamra, Madan, Madyan, Shiyaq, and Shoh.
  • Later, Qantora passed away, so Ibraheem AS remarried again to a woman called Hajoon. He fathered five children with her: Kisan, Soraj, Amim, Lutan, and Nafis.
  • Some bad people started a conflict with Ibraheem AS and his family in Palestine. It was difficult to establish who was a believer from non-believers, so Allah commanded the practice of circumcision to resolve this ambiguity.
  • Ibraheem AS, aged approximately 120, underwent the procedure first. This practice, now part of Sunnah, is recommended on the 7th, 14th, 21st, or 28th day after birth.

Ibraheem AS Encounter with Special Guests

  • Ibraheem AS, known as the father of the guests, used to regularly search for visitors/guest to invite to his house for dinner.
  • On one encounter, upon inviting a guest to his home, Ibraheem AS laid food down and told his guest to say"bismillah" (in the name of Allah). The guest refused, stating that he worships the fire and left.
  • Allah then questioned Ibraheem AS lack of generosity towards the guest. Allah revealed that the man had worshipped fire for 70 years, and yet He still provided for him. Prompted by Allah's words, Ibraheem AS sought out the man once more. The guest, surprised by the invitation that had no condition, inquired about the reason. Ibraheem AS recounted what Allah had told him, which prompted the man to forsake his former religion and embrace Islam.

The Passing of Ibraheem AS

  • According to Jewish and Christian beliefs, Ibraheem AS passed away at the age of 175, while Muslims hold that he lived until the age of 200.
  • One day, Ibraheem AS went outside his house to find some guests, he saw a man who was old and shaking. Ibraheem AS invited him to his house to eat. However, the man struggled to eat, his shaking hands causing food to slip from his grasp. Ibraheem AS inquired the guest age, he revealed himself to be one year older than Ibraheem AS.
  • Reflecting on the potential implications of reaching such an age, and how he would suffer, he asked Allah to end his life. Unbeknownst to Ibraheem AS, the guest was none other than the Angel of Death, and Ibraheem AS willingly chose to depart at that moment.
  • It is presumed his resting place is a grave in Khalil, within Masjid Ibraheemi (Hebron in Palestine) where he is buried alongside his wife, Yaqoob AS and his spouse too.
  • IB's physical features bear a resemblance to those of Prophet Muhammad SAW. During the Night Journey, when the Prophet SAW ascended to the Seventh Heaven, he described encountering a figure resembling himself in appearance, albeit at a different age.

Holy Book of Ibraheem AS

  • He received several pages rather than a complete book, as mentioned in the Quranic verses 53:36-37 and 87:18-19. Surah 20:133 describes these pages as the early scriptures of Ibraheem AS
  • In a Hadith, Abu Dhar inquired about the number of books revealed by Allah. The Prophet SAW responded that Allah revealed four books and one hundred pages, with Ibraheem AS pages totalling ten. These pages were disclosed during the initial nights of Ramadan. Please note that this hadith is considered weak, reason based on the character of the person transmitting it.
  • All the holy books were revealed in Ramadan. The Torah was unveiled on the sixth night of Ramadan, the Zaboor of Dawood on the eighteenth night, the Bible of Esa on the thirteenth night, and the Quran on Laylatul Qadr.

Other bits

  • The three mistakes of Ibraheem AS:
  • Hadith of the great intercession, they will go to Ibraheem AS, he will apologise and mention his mistakes. He lied 3 times - first time was when his father asked him to go to the festival and he lied and said he was ill, the second mistake was when he destroyed the idols, he said the biggest idol did it when he was actually the one who did it and the last mistake was when the King asked about Sarah, he said she was his sister instead of wife.
  • There is a hadith that confirms that all children who die in a state of fitrah will be looked after by Ibraheem AS and Sarah AS in the garden. see reference Sahih al-Bukhari 7047
  • Durood Shareef mentions ibraheem AS. Reference -  Hisn al-Muslim 53
